2011 Bradford Public Library Walkathon to Promote Literacy

Promote Literacy  for Children and Their Families.

The Bradford Public Library Walkathon to Promote Literacy  2011 for Children and Their Families will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 10AM. This family event is being held to raise money to support children’s programming at the library. We will walk a 1 ½ mile loop through town beginning and ending at the library. In line with our theme this year, “Have a Safe School Year”, there will be a Story Walk along the route. Pages from the book I Can Be Safeby Pat Thomas will be posted at intervals for children and parents to read together. At the library, Police Chief Martin, an officer from the State Police and several firefighters will be available to talk to children and families about safety during the school year. Representatives from New York Life will be onsite to create ID cards that include a photo, digital fingerprints and other information for parents to carry to assist police should a child be lost or abducted. Snacks and water will be provided. Sponsorship forms are available at the library front desk. Direct donations will also be accepted but this is a free event and all children and their families are welcome. Strollers and tricycles, too! For questions call the BPL at 802-222-4536.
