“Life” Photographer Extraordinaire: A Neighbor’s View

John A. Fatherly, a member of the Bradford Historical Society will speak about the life of Margaret Bourke-White (1904-1971) who was his next-door neighbor in Connecticut during her years as a correspondent around the world. Fatherly will exhibit several issues of Life Magazine featuring Bourke-White’s best work from the Library’s collection which was gifted by Shirley Beresford of Bradford.
Margaret Bourke-White, photographer for Life Magazine was the first woman hired as a photo-journalist, first western photographer allowed into the Soviet Union and she took the photograph for the cover of the first Life Magazine.
