TEEN SUMMER THEATER
In the spring of this year a group of young playwrights met weekly at the library for our first script writing workshop with teaching artist Kailie Larkin. The summer performance of “Collecting Calamities” was created at this time. The public performance took place on stage at the Bradford Academy on Friday, August 1, at 4PM.
This play came about from a moment of group improv where we were exploring the idea of power and someone acted out the idea of “collecting tears.” We brainstormed as a group what the world would look like if emotions were collected and people became numb to their feelings. From there, Alex Danforth took on the writing of the play, and as a group we revised and added to it.
“Shout Out” to teaching artist Kailie Larkin, financial support from the Vermont Humanities Council, and the Town of Bradford for the use of the auditorium.
